Chili Cook-Off Rules - OCTOBER 22, 2022
1. Contestants may register as an individual or team, and the cost is $25.00.
2. Advance registration is required. The deadline is OCTOBER 20, 2022. Teams may register online below. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
3. For purposes of this event, chili is defined as any kind of meat, or combination of meats, cooked with chili peppers, various other spices and other ingredients with the exception of pasta or rice, which are strictly forbidden.
4. Chili must be made from scratch in a commercial approved kitchen by Interior Health. If you do not have access to one you can utilize our rented commercial kitchen at the the Lions Club in West Kelowna from 5pm-9pm. A prepared eight-quart minimum amount is required for each entry. Please try to bring your chili warm to save heating time. Permit below must be filled out completely and submitted by October 20, 2022.
5. Kinsmen Park, 3170 Shannon Lake Rd,, will serve as a check-in beginning at 12:00pm. A serving table, trash cans, serving cups, spoons, and napkins will all be provided to each participant.
6. During the serving time, contestants are responsible for maintaining the proper temperature and condition of their entries for serving to the public.

Single entry or teams welcome, there is a team maximum of 5 people. Set up location will be on a first come basis. Contestants must furnish their own ingredients, equipment, utensils and fuel. All contestants are responsible for maintenance of the chili’s proper temperature for serving. Beacons Furry FUNdation Society will provide spoons, cups and napkins for serving to the general public. Chili should be brought already cooked to the site. People’s Choice Judging: 1 st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given to the overall winners. The entry fee is $25 per chili entered. Contestants may enter more than one type of chili. Tasting 1PM-3PM. Tabulation and 3PM and winners announced!
Ingredients:
Use your favorite recipe, with or without meat, with or without beans. Meat may be beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey or venison. Vegetarian chili is also acceptable. Beans are encouraged but not mandatory. Ingredients may be cut, shredded or ground to any size. Pre-cooked beans are okay.
Chili Rules:
Each contestant must cook a minimum of 3 gallons of chili. Each contestant or team will be given a contestant number. Your number will be visible to the public. Tasting Admission is $1 per ticket, per tasting. Tickets will be sold in lots of the number of contestants. For example, if there are 10 contestants registered for the event, then tickets will be sold in lots of 10, for $10 each. Each lot will include one token for voting. The more people you know the better chance you have of winning!
Chili Cook Off Schedule:
Set Up: 12pm - Chili must be hot and ready to serve at 1pm. NO LATE ENTRIES Bring your chili and set up your table. You may decorate your table however you feel. You are welcome to promote your business.
When serving chili to the public, no cash may be accepted. Only individuals with tickets may be allowed to taste the chili your team prepares. For 1 ticket, tasters will be served a 4 ounce serving.
The two teams receiving the most vote tokens will receive A) 1st place cash payout $250, B) 1st Runner Up $100.
Each team is responsible for: 1) maintaining the cleanliness and order of their serving area during the tasting, 2) thoroughly cleaning their area at the end of the event and 3) removing all items from the area. No items shall be allowed to remain after the close of the event. Any items remaining after the event will be discarded.
